As an educator, Crystal Samuels finds new and interesting ways to engage her students by using technology in her classroom. Technology is used to differentiate instruction and find new ways to encourage students to challenge themselves academically. Crystal worked with DOE to create a state program of study for the Digital Communications Pathway. Using Schoology, Crystal continues to make the program content accessible to teachers and continues to add dynamic digital content that keeps the content fresh in this ever-changing subject. As the Instructional Technology Coordinator at William Penn High School, Crystal led professional development opportunities for her colleagues to share her passion of utilizing technology in the classroom. "I love researching and experimenting with new technology to try out in my classroom, then sharing my successes and opportunities with my colleagues." As an Instructional Technology Coach for the Brandywine School District, Crystal continues to present in local, statewide and national conferences, is an active member of the Digital Learning Cadre for the state of Delaware, continuously designs professional development opportunities for staff, and works one on one with teachers to develop a personalized technology implementation plan for their classroom to increase student success and close the achievement gap.
